1st Annual Osceola County Military Appreciation Weekend. The support the Central Florida motorcycle community has shown at our past rides a huge success and it’s been noticed. What started as a few friends doing what we love – riding motorcycles – has been recognized by both the USO and Osceola County. Last year, our locally organized group the USO Motorcycle Benefit Ride worked directly with the USO of Greater Jacksonville (which is the largest organized USO group in Florida) to streamline our process and ensure that 100% of all donations were directed to supporting our men, woman and families of our military personnel. This year the USO has requested that we move the ride to a Saturday so that more active duty and retired military could ride with us, so the ride will be back to the more popular Saturday. We are currently working with the Osceola Sheriff’s Department to come up with a new route of approximately the same distance and time. In years past, there have been a lot of us participating in this event so it takes a lot of time and thought in planning a safe and enjoyable ride that has the least impact on those not so fortunate to have the means and/or the passion of riding motorcycles that we share.
The Veterans Council and the Osceola Veteran’s Museum are joining us this year and are adding to our patriotic experience and that of the community by holding a military swap meet Saturday and Sunday along with reenactments of historical battles from all eras of US history. This year's ride is dedicated in the memory of Osceola County's Fallen hero. LCpl Jason Burnett, USMC 1986-2006 It all starts with a concert Friday evening by Country Music star Sarah Evans. So keep an eye out for ads, posters, flyers with more information. Oh yeah – we heard all of you last year and reduced the donation back to $25 per person and we’re still feeding and entertaining you all. Just Annouced!! All new 60 mile route. |
